Founded over 38 years
The society was formed in February 1968 with the first monthly meeting being held on the 17th of that month. The meeting was held at the premises of Mrs J. M. Courtice of the suburb Deakin here in the ACT. A constitution was agreed on and membership fees were decided at $1.00 per annum During the following years the society members have strived to promote the growing of these beautiful flowers, geraniums and fuchsias. Monthly meetings and "get togethers", plant workshops, open garden visits, flower shows, road trips have all been part of our yearly calendar. Many wonderful friendships have been created during our societies operation. The final meeting for the year includes our annual Christmas party.
Specialist Growers
The Society proudly boasts of our specialist growers who donate their time and experience in educating new and existing members in the successful growing of all their plants. This has created hundreds of "show quality" species for our popular flower shows where they are displayed or made available to the public for purchase. The flower shows have regularly sold out of plants even though more and more have been supplied each year.
Workshops are popular where members provide information and practical advice on plant maintenance, striking from cuttings, disease control, etc. These are held at members private addresses during the year.
The society always welcomes new members and holds meetings on the first Saturday of each month in Canberra.

The Society always welcomes new members and holds meetings on the first Saturday of each month at the 2pm at the (NEW MEETING PLACE) St. James Uniting Church 21 Gillies Street Curtin ACT. Members enjoy many benefits...... learn about and grow these glorious flowers, receive the Societies posted journal, attend and participate in displays, road trips, workshops, open gardens and many other functions throughout the year. Members also, through other members and flower shows, have access to hundreds of old and new varieties of fuchsias and geraniums. Joining fees are just $15 per single and $20 a couple per annum. Old Aussie Food Recipes- Memories of yesterday's delicious foods with hundreds of old Australian recipes copied from hand written notes, papers and cut outs dating back to the 1800's. A private family collection, over ten years compiling, now available for all to prepare and enjoy with sprinklings of our wonderful Aussie culture and icons, family humour, poetry, glorious fauna and more. A family site for all.
